New Years Eve
For New Years Eve we got together with some of our friends and did fireworks in the cul-de-sac.  Colby was very cautious.  He kept his distance by watching from the driveway.  Once again, Kurt and I ended up calling it a night at about 10:30.  What can I say...we are party animals.

Christmas

This year for Christmas we were able to go to Utah and visit family.  Colby couldn't wait to get on that airplane.  I made the mistake of saying we were going on an airplane a week before we left.  He didn't stop talking about it for the entire week.  The funny part is that a couple minutes after taking off he fell asleep for the entire flight.  He missed the whole thing.

There wasn't any snow while we were there, so it was plenty warm for Kurt to go dirt biking (if a 30 degree high is plenty warm).  He had a great time at the dunes with his dad and brother Tony.
During our visit we went to see the lights at Temple Square.  The lights were beautiful but we froze to death.  Our bodies are a bit too used to the Arizona heat. We only made it a half hour.

We stayed with Kurt's parents this year.  Being in a different house made Colby a little nervous when he would wake up in the morning, so we reluctantly let him hang out in bed with us each morning.  One morning Colby came in to hang out and fell asleep next to Kurt.  I went upstairs to feed Cameron his breakfast.  About an hour later I went downstairs to check on them.  Kurt was sound asleep and Colby was jumping over him on the bed.  Not only had Colby been jumping on the bed but he had gotten into the diaper bag and busted open a bag of crackers.  Helping himself to them in the bed.  Poor Kurt.  I don't even think he knew what was happening.  The late nights studying have made him very difficult to wake up in the mornings. 

Colby had a great time playing with his brother and cousins.  We only wish we had remembered to take more pictures.   

Unfortunately, shortly after returning home from our Christmas vacation, Cameron caught a nasty bug.  It lasted about 10 days.  It was the worst!  He couldn't keep anything down the entire time.  He averaged 2-3 baths per day and we did a couple loads of laundry a day as well.  Poor guy...and of course poor us. This is what he looked like most of the week...

Just hoping we didn't pass it to anyone else. 

Learning At A Young Age

One of the boys' favorite things to do with daddy.  No matter how sad they get, a little song from daddy makes it all better.  He even lets them play along.

After hearing loud music and Cameron laughing, I went back into our bedroom to find Cameron helping Kurt play the guitar.  He wouldn't let go.

Halloween

This year Halloween was especially fun.  Being a little older, Colby enjoyed it much more this time around.  I had the hardest time figuring out what to dress Colby up as this year...until I ran into the perfect thing while shopping at Walmart.  They had the cutest little motocross outfit.  When I brought it home to show Kurt, he was so excited.  Being the dirt bike fanatic he is, I knew he would like it, but I had no clue he would be so happy.  He was so proud of his little boy when we dressed him in it.
Kurt and I have never really been great about dressing up for Halloween.  This year, last minute, we decided to dress up for a friends party.  We didn't have anything prepared, so we pulled out all of Kurt's motorcycling gear and dressed up the whole family.  I looked rediculous.  The clothes were so enormous!  Of course we didn't have anything small enough for Cameron, so he went as our pet dragon.  What a crazy looking family.

Poor Cameron.  The only baby costumes they make are so warm.  He was probably sweating to death in the Arizona heat.

Halloween was also fun because my parents were able to come visit.  We had a great time.  They took us to the zoo one of the days they were in town.  Colby had so much fun.  He loves animals, however, we found out he likes them better from a distance.  We tried to get him to feed the giraffe, but he didn't seem very interested.  He liked watching me feed them, but was too affraid to do it himself.  I don't blame him. It was a pretty weird experience.  Their tongues are so long. 

 
While my parents were here we also went to the park to feed the ducks.  Apparently there is a huge fine for feeding the ducks.  Oops!  We didn't see the sign until we were leaving.  Those ducks are pretty vicious.  They follow you around begging for food.  I guess we weren't the first to feed them.  We had such a great time with my parents and are glad they were able to come visit.

Turning 2!

I can't believe Colby is already two!  Time has gone by so quickly.  It seems like just yesterday he was learning to walk, and now he is talking up a storm.  The poor kid had a rough birthday though.  He woke up that morning with a terrible cold, a double ear infection and pink eye.  Not the way we had hoped the day would go.  Sadly he gave all of that to his brother as well.  We were planning on having some of his friends over to play in the sprinklers and have cupcakes, but had to postpone.  Luckily he is still young enough and wasn't too disappointed.  In fact, I don't even think he realized it was his birthday.  Later in the week we had some friends over and celebrated a little late. 

Colby has been obsessed with trains lately.  He loves the ones they have at the library and was pretty excited to get one of his own.

Colby has been such a blessing to us these past two years.  He has such a funny personality and is always making us laugh.  Here are a couple of the funny things he has done lately.  He is obsessed with airplanes and loves to point them out in the sky every time he hears one.  The other day he was sitting on my lap and heard my stomach growl.  He jumped off my lap, ran to the back door and shouted "airplane." 

Colby has always loved to dance.  He has some great moves and is known for them amongst our friends.  He has decided that he would rather dance and jump everywhere he goes rather than just walk.  He is pretty funny to watch. 

Lately we have been working with Colby on telling us when he goes to the bathroom, in hopes to get him a little closer to potty training.  When he was sick a couple weeks ago he was put on antibiotics which gave him...well lets just say a diaper rash.  The rash hurt so bad that every time he went to the bathroom he would come to me and say "owie poop".  Now every time he has a messy diaper he shouts "owie poop!"  I guess it's a step in the right direction.

Colby is such a great little boy.  He is constantly making us smile, and we feel so lucky to have him as our son.

Last Minute Gettaway

The week before school started we decided to take a quick trip to San Diego.  We found out it is only a five hour drive and couldn't resist the cooler weather.  We had a great time.  We spent some time relaxing on the beach and at the hotel pool.  It was Colby's first time at the beach.  Unfortunately the water scared him pretty bad.  Occasionally the waves would come up by where he was playing and get his feet wet.  He usually ran away crying.  Boy do we have some work to do.  He better learn to love the water soon, given that it is the only activity in Arizona during the hot summer days. 
One of the days we spent at the San Diego Zoo.  It was such an amazing zoo.  Colby had a great time watching all the animals and telling everyone what sound they make.

Colby loves his little brother.  If there is ever a time where he is sitting in the stroller by himself, he always points to the baby's seat and says with a sad face, "uh oh, baby!"  He is such a great older brother to Cameron.  We feel lucky to have these sweet little boys.

One of our favorite things to do on the trip was walk along the boardwalk and watch people fish and surf.  There were some fun parks along the beach Colby really loved.  We are so glad we were able to fit a little bit of family time in before Kurt went back to school.

Trip To Utah!

A couple weeks before starting our second year of medical school, we were able to go to Utah and visit family.  The trip came at the perfect time.  It has been such a hot summer here in Arizona and we really enjoyed the Utah weather. We had such a great time seeing the family.  Both Kurt's sister Lisa and my sister Jen and their families were able to come up and visit. 
We were able to bless Cameron while we were visiting Utah.  It was especially fun because were were able to have a combined blessing celebration with Kurt's sisters new little girl.  It was such a great day and a wonderful trip!  We just wish we had remembered to take more pictures.

We had a great time boating. Colby even enjoyed riding in the tube.

We drove down to Provo to see my grandma Dester.  Boy did Colby love that backyard!  He had a great time with all of the fountains.

It was so fun spending time with my sister and meeting her new little girl Kaitlyn.  The kids had so much fun together.  Colby loved playing with his cousins and was sad when we had to say goodbye.
